The Haven Ministries, Inc. is a faith-based organization, and as such, we believe:

 

1.) That the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God.

(II Timothy 3:16) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

(II Peter 1:21) For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

2.) There is one God, eternally existent in three persons — God, the Father; God, the Son; and God, the Holy Ghost.

(Deuteronomy 6:4) Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.

(Hebrews 11:3) Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

3.) In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal future return to this earth in power and glory.

(Matthew 3:16-17) And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

4.) In the Blessed Hope — the rapture of the Church at Christ’s coming.

(Daniel 7:13-14) I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

(Matthew 24:30-31 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

(Acts 1:11) Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

(I Thessalonians 4:15-17) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

(Revelation 22:20) He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

5.) That the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ.

(Psalm 130:4) But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

(Jeremiah 36:3) …..that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

(Acts 13:38-39) Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

(John 14:16) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, the life. No man commeth unto the Father but by me.

(I John 1:9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

(Romans 5:1) Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

(I John 3:7) Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

6.) That there is one Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, Who came from the Father and the Son. He is the Paraclete, the Comforter, the One who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He is the Spirit of truth, regenerates the believing sinner, and guides His children. He indwells, guide, instruct, cleanse and empower the believer for godly living and service. The Haven Ministries believes the Holy Spirit is actively involved in the work of salvation for “whosoever will.” We also believe He works through His church (body of believers) to spread the gospel and His love for the world.

(John 14:16, 17, 26) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

(John 15:26) But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.

(Matthew 28:19) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

(II Corinthians 13:14) The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

(John 3:3) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

(Ephesians 2:1) And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

(Colossians 2:13) And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.
 

7.) Through the sanctifying power and indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the Christian is enabled to live a holy life. That Christ breaks each chain and came to destroy the works of the enemy.

(Titus 3:5) Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

(John 17:17) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

(I Thessalonians 5:23) And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

(Hebrews 10:14-15) For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before.

(John 8:36) If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

(1 John 3:8b) …For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

(2 Corinthians 5:17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

(Titus 2:11-14) For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people.

(James 1:12-15) Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

(1 Corinthians 10:13) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

(James 4:7) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8.) In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost — the one to everlasting life, the other to everlasting damnation.

(Psalm 9:17) The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget
God.

(Matthew 25:46) And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

(John 5:28-29) Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

(John 14:1-3) Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

(Romans 14:10) But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

(I Corinthians 15:10) But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

The Haven Ministries, Inc.’s Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. We believe that the Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and appropriate conduct, and the Bible therefore is our final authority for matters of belief and conduct.  For purposes of The Haven Ministries, Inc.’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Executive Director and the Board of Directors are The Haven Ministries, Inc’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s application.

STATEMENT OF BELIEFS ON LIFE, GENDER, MARRIAGE, AND SEXUALITY,

 

We believe that God wonderfully creates each person as either male or female as acknowledged at birth, and that these two distinct sexes are unchanging and these complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.” (Genesis 1:27) We believe that all human life is sacred and of inestimable worth, including babies in the womb, and we are called to defend, protect, and value all human life across the human lifespan until God determines the end of our days. We also believe that God created marriage to be exclusively the union of one man and one woman in covenantal relationship, and that God intends intimate sexual activity and sexual intimacy to occur exclusively within that union and covenantal relationship. 

 

 

Because The Haven Ministries, Inc. serves and ministers to persons victimized by trauma of a sexual nature, human sexuality and gender identity must be stewarded with seriousness but also with compassion. Accordingly, we believe that all forms of sexual activity, sexual intimacy, gender identity, or gender expression outside of the boundaries and beliefs set out in our Statement of Faith, Statement of Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct, Statement of Belief on Life, Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality, and Standards of Christian Conduct, or inconsistent with the boundaries and beliefs set out in our Statement of Faith, Statement of Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct, Statement of Belief on Life, Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality, and Standards of Christian Conduct are harmful to human relationships and contrary to each person’s inherent dignity and value as an individual created in the image of God, and inconsistent with The Haven Ministries’ policies, practices, operations, programs, and services.

Based upon The Haven Ministries, Inc’s Statement of Faith, Statement of Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct, and Statement of Belief on Life, Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality, and in order to preserve the function and integrity of The Haven Ministries as a Christian ministry part of the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to The Haven Ministries, Inc.’s residents, program participants, staff, and volunteers, as well as to our community, we believe it is imperative that:

 

• all persons employed by or volunteering in any leadership position at The Haven Ministries, Inc. in any capacity, must affirm their shared belief and agree with, abide by, and reflect the principles of our Statement of Faith, Statement of Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct, and Statement of Belief on Life, Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality, which together comprise the Standards of Christian Conduct for employees and volunteers at The Haven Ministries, Inc. Because each employee and volunteer is representing The Haven Ministries, Inc. as well as acting as an ambassador for Christ through our policies, practices, operations, programs, and services, employees and volunteers in any leadership position must further agree to abstain from any conduct contrary to our Standards of Christian Conduct.

 

• all persons participating in any leadership position in any aspect of The Haven Ministries, Inc.’s programs, services, or facilities, must recognize, acknowledge, and respect that the Organization operates and provides its services and programs consistent with the principles and affirm the principles of our Statement of Faith, Statement of Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct, and Statement of Belief on Life, Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality, which together comprise the Standards of Christian Conduct for The Haven Ministries, Inc. and agree to abide by the principles reflected in our Standards of Christian Conduct.

 

 

We also believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We further believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful, hurtful, prejudicial, or harassing speech, behavior, or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor our Standards of Christian Conduct.
